Burberry winter collection draws on British country homes, equestrian styles

Burberry unveiled its Winter 2025 collection on Monday at London’s Tate Britain museum, drawing inspiration from country estates with a lineup that featured leather trench coats, velvet brocade suits, and equestrian-inspired styles like jodhpur trousers and high leather boots.

A star-studded cast, including supermodel Naomi Campbell, actors Lesley Manville, Richard E. Grant, and Elizabeth McGovern, along with Lila Moss—daughter of Kate Moss—graced the runway to showcase creative director Daniel Lee’s fifth collection for the iconic British brand.

This marks the second show under CEO Joshua Schulman, who has been steering Burberry toward a renewed focus on outerwear, scarves, and the brand’s British heritage in an effort to revive sales.

The catwalk, covered in Lee’s signature bright blue carpet, contrasted with the neoclassical architecture of the venue, which was adorned with drapes featuring impressionist prints inspired by British landscape artists. The collection’s color palette embraced warm browns, greys, and taupe, with striking red and yellow accents reminiscent of the British countryside.

Jacquard-woven trench coats and brocade jackets drew influence from the tapestries and wallpaper of stately homes, while silk pajama-style shirts and trousers reflected a sense of domestic luxury.

“It’s that great Friday night exodus from London to the countryside for long rainy walks and disconnecting in the great outdoors,” Lee said, describing his inspiration for the collection.

Accessories played a key role, with oversized scarves featuring chunky fringes and leather boots adorned with Burberry’s signature check. Reflecting the brand’s emphasis on scarves, each guest received a dark green and navy check scarf as part of their invitation.

Burberry’s show served as the grand finale of London Fashion Week, closing the second leg of the Autumn-Winter 2025 fashion calendar, which began in New York and will continue to Milan and Paris.
