R&B Icon Angie Stone Dies in Alabama Car Crash at 63

R&B Star Angie Stone Dies in Tragic Car Crash
Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone has tragically passed away at the age of 63 following a car crash, her daughter confirmed.
“My mommy is gone,” Diamond Stone, also known as Ladi Diamond, wrote in an emotional Facebook post.
According to reports, Stone was fatally injured when the van she was traveling in overturned early Saturday morning in Alabama, following a performance.
A celebrated artist, Stone was known for hits like No More Rain (In This Cloud) and Wish I Didn’t Miss You. Throughout her career, she earned three Grammy nominations and initially rose to fame in the 1970s as a member of the pioneering female hip-hop trio The Sequence. Their song Funk You Up became a major hit, reaching No. 15 on Billboard’s Hot Soul Singles chart.
Her daughter, devastated by the loss, had earlier asked for prayers for her family, sharing that she was on the road when the tragic news broke.
A spokesperson for Stone told the BBC that the family had traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, and planned to share further details soon.
Guy Todd Williams, known as Rahiem from Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, revealed that about nine other passengers were in the van at the time of the crash, but Stone was the only fatality.
“She left an indelible mark on the music industry, first as a member of The Sequence and later as a beloved solo artist,” Williams said.
Authorities in Montgomery have yet to release an official report on the crash.
Beyond music, Stone also found success in Hollywood. She made her film debut in The Hot Chick (2002) alongside Rob Schneider, Rachel McAdams, and Anna Faris. She later appeared in The Fighting Temptations (2003), starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyoncé.
Her legacy as an influential R&B and hip-hop artist will continue to inspire generations.
